Our mother the
earth is suffering, and mankind is also suffering with her. At the same time,
the animals are suffering. Hundreds of animals’ species become extinct every day.
They simply disappear forever from the face of the earth. Whole areas of forest
also disappear forever from the earth. The rivers, lakes and oceans suffer as a
consequence of industrialization and in the hustle and bustle of man.
God, our
heavenly Father, wanted the best for us. He gave us everything we need to live
and beyond that. With the rich resources of the earth, one could easily nourish
the hungry people who live in poverty and make possible for them a life worthy
of and suitable for man.
Why don't we do
that? Because we have lost contact with our mother the earth. We are too
preoccupied with ourselves. We no longer see our neighbours and even less our
secondary neighbours: the animals, plants and minerals. We ruthlessly grab from
everywhere in order to satisfy our ego, in order to take whatever we want at
the moment.
"Be
fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it to you." This sentence was completely misunderstood
and misinterpreted by Christians. God gave mankind the earth with animals and
plants and enough nourishment. It was the will of God that all people and
animals live in peace with each other and also with the plant and mineral
kingdom.
God commanded
the people to subdue the earth in love. It is written in the Bible: "But
if your blood is shed, I will demand a reckoning, that is, for the blood of
each one of you." And God spoke, "Of every animal I will require a
reckoning and of man. For the life of a man I require a reckoning from each one
of his brothers. Whoever sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be
shed." (Gen 9:5ff) From these words of God we exactly recognize that the
commandment "You shall not kill" was there from the beginning of
creation.
Man should have
acknowledged it and complied with it. What have we done with this commandment
of God? Have we understood it? Have we kept it? Or have we ruthlessly murdered
and exploited people, animals, plants and minerals?
If God were to
intervene forcefully into our world events - whom should He apprehend? Who is
better than the other? If God were to intervene, He would be breaking His law,
because God is peace, not battle. So we can never expect God to intervene with
force into these world events.
We created the
law of sowing and reaping through the converted and downgraded eternal law of
sending and receiving. When we send love, we receive love. When we send
aggressions, we receive aggressions. When we send death, we will be killed. We
created this law for ourselves. In this law we live. And this law, our own law
- that is, we ourselves - also passes judgement upon us.
Yet the love of
the Father remains. And the love of God keeps the eternal home prepared for us.
We cannot grasp the endless love, because we work only with the intellect and
analyse everything. But we can fathom it in our innermost being. We purify
ourselves more and more when we renounce what is human in us, our base ego, our
passions, our negative thinking, our greed and the exploitation of the earth.
If we do this more and more, we will feel the love of God, not in the outer but
within us. We become different people free, noble people, with a spiritual way
of thinking, with higher values and ideals.
Each one of us
must change. Then the earth will also be changed. For God already said, "I
make everything new, a new heaven and a new earth." But He makes it new through people, through
people who change their ways, who strive to fulfil His commandments, His laws.
When we change our way of thinking and build up a positive communication with
the positive powers of the universe, when we use the energy of the day and
recognize our mistakes and weaknesses, repent of them, clear them up and no
longer do them - then we change ourselves. Thus, our consciousness expands. We
become clearer and lighter. We then recognize what we can do to create the new
earth.
Let as change
our ways. Let us strive everyday to pray deeply and give our faults again and
again over to Him and stop doing them again. Then the grace comes increasingly
into action. It helps us and stands by us, so that we clear up what we have
recognized and no longer do it.
The more all the
harmful substances from the atmosphere fall onto us, the more the grace of God
- which is support, salvation and help - streams towards us. We are not alone.
The darker it becomes on the earth, the more the light of God comes. Let us
open ourselves to the light, and we will receive it even in the darkest and
dreariest time.
We recognize
that particularly nowadays. In spite of all burdens, mother earth is giving of
herself, as far as she is still able. Let us rejoice at what she can still give
us. Let us see the positive in everything that mother earth still gives. Let us
strive to get in touch with nature. Let us recognize that all forms of life are
a part of our soul as essence and power, a part of our spiritual heritage.
Thus, if we
change our way of thinking and unfold spiritually and build up the positive
powers in us, we will feel more and more the connection with the nature
kingdoms and become open to the light of God. In this way, we will grow in the
life for, with and on the new, light-filled earth.
