Against everything
that does not
correspond to our tradition, we tend to behave rejecting to it. That
lies in the nature of human beings.
The habit is the strongest power both in the
life of a individual and in the life of a whole nation.
Therefore a human
being hangs so firmly on the habits and customs, which he took over from the
parents and practised them from youth on.
This power of the
habit is the largest enemy of the truth in all fields, particularly in
religion.
It does not only
hold human beings away to look for the truth, but drives it in addition instinctively - without further examination - to repudiate
everything, which stands contrary to its
past opinion.
The only means
against that is: The self-experiencing of the truth.
For the honest
"searcher after truth" is the truth the treasure of whom Christ in a
parable says:
"The kingdom
of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he did it
again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that
field".
"Again, the
kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. When he found one
of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought
it". (Matthew 13, 44-46)
